Civitas High School Programs

Do high school students really need more programs? Many observers say that our students are already over-programmed. Whether this is true or not, Civitas programs are different. They are not characterized by repetition, drill, recall, and conformity. They emphasize creative, critical thinking, and character development that incorporates reflective thinking and individual choices. There are three foci to Civitas programs: (1) domestic policy with special emphasis on urban studies and economic justice; (2) international studies with particular attention on the role of the United Nations; and (3) personal guidance through college counseling services and scholarship opportunities. Virtually all Civitas activities are on weekends; the work to complement rather than compete with school responsibilities. |
