Students: Can You Meet with Robin Carnahan on April 5?
Civitas students have an opportunity to meet with Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan on Saturday, April 5 at Crossroads (map) from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Much of our conversation this school year, particularly in the Active Citizenship Conference, focused on ideas of electoral reform. Suggested ideas included abolishing the electoral college, allowing elections to extend or several days, and much more.
In Missouri, it is the responsibility of the Secretary of State to set procedures for elections within the boundaries of state and federal law. She also works to ensure that elections are fair and honest.
We just learned that Secretary Carnahan would be available to meet with us on Saturday, April 5. We need to know how many students are interested in and can attend (teachers are naturally also welcome). Please complete this survey to let us know if you can attend. We will give you a final answer on the workability of the April 5 date on Monday, March 31.
