Thanks to the terrific students in the 2008 Civitas Urban Go-Team: Sean Drummond (S.L.U.H.), Caitlin Drummond (Rosati-Kain), Claire Gavin (Webster Groves), Teresa Ghidey (Howard University), Katharine Joiner (Lindbergh), Joyce LaFontaine (Rosati-Kain), Kyle Marks (University of Missouri), Kaila Pulliam-Collins (MICDS), Naja Pulliam-Collins (MICDS), Allison Reed (Washington University), Mandi Roper (Rosati-Kain), Tony Sanchez (Maplewood-Richmond Heights), and Emma Short (Webster Groves). This did a terrific job from beginning to end. To a person, they actively engaged in voter registration, intercept polling, and phone-banking. They had wonderful questions for our outstanding speakers and are now committed to exciting projects that will carry through the election period and beyond. We will keep you informed of their activities. In the meantime, we want to also extend special thanks to the terrific adult resources who met with the students: Eric Fey (St. Louis County Election Board), Ashley Bolden, John Hickey, Marshall (Missouri Pro-Vote), Stacey Newman and Tracy McCreery (Stacey Newman for State Rep.), Professor Ken Warren (St. Louis University), Jason Fedorow (Service Employees International Union), Alex Detrick and Changa Bey (Missouri History Museum). Additional thanks to the many proprietors who let us survey staff and clients on their premises, ranging from service stations to beauty shops to laundromats to coffeehouses. Finally, thanks to the Service Employees International Union and Crossroads College Preparatory Academy for use of their facilities. More photos are available by clicking here.
