SwiftPageEmail Subject: Upcoming Civitas Activities and more

Dear Bobbi,
It's not nature calling, but

cell phones can ring at the most inopportune of times.  CNN chose to "go deep" and do a story on cell phone etiquette (and if you didn't know by now, Civitas knows nothing about etiquette).  Anyway, here's a clip featuring former St. Louis meteorologist Reynolds Wolf doing his best immitation of Cardinal relief pitchers with a cell phone.  Click here.

Hopefully, on a more serious note, for information on upcoming Civitas activities not included in this newsletter, please click on the links below.

Politics & Pizza at Holden Forum

Former Missouri Governor Bob Holden is still very much involved in politics and public issues.  Last year he created the Holden Public Policy Forum in conjunction with Webster University.   The forum provides opportunities for numerous knowledgeable speakers to speak and meet with citizens in St. Louis who are interested in public policy issues.  Students in Civitas programs are becoming regular attendees.

This summer the focus is on candidates running for office in Missouri's August 5 primary election (this involves all offices other than president; the Missouri presidential primary was held last February 5 on "Super Tuesday.").

Republicans and Democrats alike have agreed to come to forum events providing citizens with opportunities to hear diverse opinions on important issues.  A listing of upcoming speakers is in our "Upcoming Events" section at the bottom of this newsletter.  It is worth noting that today (Tues., July 8), the speaker will be Missouri State Treasurer Sarah Steelman who is running for the Republican nomination for Governor.  The event will is at 4:00 PM in the Emerson Library on the campus of Webster University
(campus map).  Pizza and beverages add to the informality and cordiality of the event.

Civitas students, teachers, and the general public are invited to attend.  If you need help with transportation, please call our office at (314) 367-6480.
