Discussions, Global Gateway, More

Thanks to the nearly 30 students who came to last Saturday's discussion group at Crossroads; once again we had some most engaging discussion, most specifically on gender and race in politics. Special thanks to Parkway West junior Michelle Ki who have an excellent report from the Democratic National Convention. Many students indicated an interest in continuing conversation using our Civitas forum; you can access it by clicking here. To view more photos, click here. So much happening now. Needless to say, we would like interested students and adult to attend upcoming events. Here they are in summary (more details below): - Discussion group but also prep session for "Water Wars" Pulitzer Global Gateway project on Saturday, Sept. 13. We want all interested teachers and students to attend to help us better prepare for the journalists. Pulitzer Center director Jon Sawyer will be in attendance to discuss the project and much more.
- Eric Greitens on public service on Saturday, Sept. 20. He brings a much more nuanced dimension to the conversation; we really hope you can make it.
- Voting rights for high school seniors and juniors -- a public conversation with students and adults at the Missouri History Museum on Thursday, Sept. 25.
- Country Draft for Civitas Model U.N. (this MUN will be on Sat., Nov. 22).
- Pulitzer Global Gateway project on "Water Wars in East Africa;" Oct. 1 - 4.
- Washington University Model United Nations on Oct. 15 - 17; you can now register at www.wumuns.org.
Again, for this Saturday we'll meet at Crossroads College Preparatory School, 500 DeBaliviere; 63112 (map) from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. We will have our usual tasty snacks with some de riguer healthy food included. We urge you to attend and bring a friend or two!
