Pulitzer
Last week over 700 students learned about crises facing women and children in developing countries, particularly Nepal, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Iraq. Three outstanding journalists, Michael Kavanagh, Alaa Majeed, and Meredith May shared their remarkable experiences and insight. They were joined by Pulitzer staff members Jon Sawyer and Janeen Heath. All of them utilized the highly interactive Pulitzer Global Gateway web site.
In the course of three days, they visited twelve high schools, three middle schools, and two universities. There was a special evening event open to the public last Tuesday at Nerinx Hall High School. You can read about that event by clicking here.

Urban Go-Team
Last Saturday we had our first Urban Go-Team activity of 2009. This year's theme is Jobs in an economic recession. Lisa Granich-Kovarik gave an outstanding introduction to basic economics and the jobs market. We then went to the University City Loop and interviewed scores of people about their economic situations. We also had a team question store proprietors and employees on the current state of their business. We will have results shortly. Click here for photos.

Middle School Model U.N.
Months of hard work culminates for over 500 students in the next three weeks as we have five middle school model U.N. sessions. This week we have one on Wed., April 29 and a second on Fri., May 1. All sessions are from 9:00 AM - Noon at the Creve Coeur Government Center (map).
