This Sunday, winners of the Pulitzer / Civitas essay contest (click here to read essays) are going to Washington, DC with chaperones (Kristen Collins from Parkway West, Kelly Moore from Soldan and Arthur Lieber and Bobbi Clemons from Civitas). Also going on the trip is Civitas intern Allison Reed, sophomore at Washington University and graduate of Rosati-Kain High School. We will return on Tuesday, July 14, just before the first pitch of the All-Star game.
Student will spend two mornings working with the Pulitzer staff in honing their journalistic skills. They will also be developing enhanced strategies for the Global Gateway program to work even more effectively with participating schools.

CCC: Civitas-Collinsville Collaboration
|
|
The letter 'C' is wild ... collaboration with the City of Collinsville; the Collinsville Connection; Collinsville High School and Civitas was the word of last evening. Thirteen high school and college students met with teachers and public officials to discuss collaboration. We had dinner and Grapes and Olives Restaurant on Main Street in Collinsville.
We will be planning some exciting activities for the Fall; our goal is to link the efforts towards active citizenship happening in Collinsville with those sponsored by Civitas. Thanks to Melissa Leavy, Mark Schusky, Barbara Lindauer, Jed Robbins, Joe Rule, and Mackenzie for all their help on the Collinsville side.
