SwiftPageEmail Subject: Pulitzer Global Gateway this Week and More

Dear Arthur,

Pulitzer Global Gateway this Week
The Pulitzer Global Gateway project on FOOD: Insecurity begins in eight days (Wed., Sept. 30).  Journalists Fred de Sam Lazaro and Sharon Schmickle are coming to St. Louis to share the experiences and insight into the pressing problem of global hunger.  Here is key information for you:

There will be an assembly open to the public on Thursday, Oct. 1 at Nerinx Hall High School (address and map) from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM.  All interested students, teachers, parents, and interested citizens are invited to attend.

Change the World; Choose A Country

Both our high school and middle school country selections for model U.N. are coming up.  Middle School teachers will assemble at the Richmond Heights Community Center (map) on Monday, Oct. 12 at 4:00 PM to select countries for individual sessions.  High school students will gather at Crossroads College Preparatory School (map) on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 9:00 AM for their country draft.

You can access a list of the 192 countries in the United Nations General Assembly by clicking here.  High School students should know that we will be working with one plenary session (no committees); thus ensuring that there will be far more countries than usual selected.

You can learn more about how the country draft works by clicking here.

Methane to Megawatts Field Trip this Saturday

Special thanks to Christine Marshall of John Burroughs School for bringing this resource to our attention and Genevieve Bodnar, environmental manager at Fred Weber for sharing her knowledge and resources with us.

You must register in advance for this field trip.  To sign up, click here.  We should advise you that there is a limit of twelve students for the trip and thirteen are signed up.  However, we will confirm the first twelve who complete and submit permission forms.  You can access the forms by clicking here and then on the permission form on the top-right corner of that page.
