Civitas Video:

Tuesday, October 27, 2009
Albert Pujols may be the best in his business; nine straight years of hitting over .300; over 30 homers; and over 100 RBI.  The Cardinals want to renegotiate his contract to ensure that he will be a Cardinal the rest of his career.  Talk on his annual salary has been in the vicinity of $30 million.

Many Wall Street and corporate executives make this much and more.  Our survey is about salaries in America.  Click here to respond.

RESULTS

  1. Thanks to the 32 individuals who responded to the survey.  However, remember that this sample is neither large nor random enough to extrapolate valid conclusions.

  2. 71% of respondents favored either a "medicare for all" plan or a public option to compete with private insurers.
  3. Eight people offered an array of comments, you can access it all by clicking here.

Next Friday Night Flik: "The Candidate"

Idealistic young lawyer Bill McKay (Robert Redford), thoroughly involved with civil rights, legal aid and ecology, agrees to run for the U.S. Senate - not to win, he tells himself, but to bring vital issues before the voters.

He despises political deals and compromises, but when the possibility of victory overshadows what seemed like certain defeat, his integrity begins to weaken. A fascinating and dynamic character study showing all the inner conflicts of a decent man torn between his ambition and his conscience. It tells what it costs - emotionally, morally, financially - to run for public office, and conveys all the doubts, all the self deceptions and ultimately all the cynicism of a man who knows he has sold out for something he isn't sure he really wants.

The film will be a week from Friday, October 30, at the Civitas office (map) from 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM.  We will provide pizza and beverages.
