With last week's weather, we had to cancel our weekend activities; everything is rescheduled for this weekend. If parts of this newsletter seem similar to last week's, don't worry it's not yet Groundhog Day.

Movie: "The Interpreter" this Friday
It takes place in and around the United Nations; it's full of intrigue; it involves conflict between wealthy nations and developing ones. "The Interpreter" is an "educational thriller" (did we just invent a new term?). Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn star. It's this Friday, January 15, at the Civitas office (map). We'll have pizza starting at 6:00 PM and begin the movie shortly thereafter. Things will wrap up at 9:30 PM. You can sign up for the lunch and movie by clicking here.

Will the 16th day of the new year be too late to reflect on the previous year or decade? Will it be too soon to pass judgment on the second decade of the 21st century (we hope so)? And oh yes, what did you think of "Invictus" or "The Interpreter?" We'll clearly have lots to talk about. We welcome stories from anyone who has been in an airport the past several weeks. And don't forget, the silence you hear is white noise masquerading the grinding of the wheels as a health care bill is cobbled between the House and the Senate. Will there be one; if so, will it be for better or worse? Will Mark McGwire have met the press by Saturday? We hope that you join us in talking about any of these topics as well as any others of your choosing. The discussion is this Saturday, Jan. 16, at Crossroads (map) from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
