High School Polling in Soulard this Saturday
High School students are invited to be part of the Civitas contingent interviewing people at Soulard Market and possibly Tower Grove Park this Saturday, April 17. Our focus is on people's views about St. Louis.
We'll meet at Crossroads (map) at 9:00 AM and the activitity will conclude at Noon. You can sign up at the Civitas site by clicking here or on Facebook by clicking here.
Following the polling, students will have an opportunity to work with Emily Haight, director of the Channel 9 "NineVoices" program. Using flip cams, students will interview one another about the morning's activities and share responses from interviewees. This is part of the beta (trial) stage of Channel 9's NineVoices program which will give more opportunities to St. Louisans to discuss issues that face us both on line and on the air.
If we're hit with bad weather, we'll have alternative indoor activities at Crossroads. As of publication of this newsletter, the forecast for Saturday is 70o and sunny!

Middle School Model U.N.s Continue

Our third Middle School Model U.N. session is little more than two weeks away, specifically on Thursday, April 29. As with all sessions, it will be held at the Creve Coeur Government Center; 300 No. New Ballas Road; 63141 (map) from 9:00 AM - Noon. Participating schools for Session #3 are Lift for Life Academy, North Kirkwood Middle School, Ritenour Middle School, and Solomon Schecter School.
It is extremely helpful to all teachers and students in the program if resolutions are submitted well in advance. The earlier the resolutions come in the more attention Civitas staff can give to critiquing them. We urge teachers and students from all participation schools for Session #3 to have drafts of their resolutions in to us by the end of this week; Friday, April 16 (this gives you a day after taxes are due).
The final four sessions are on May 4, May 5,May 7, and May 11. Again, we would appreciate it if resolutions could be in for these session two weeks in advance. If you have any questions, contact Lisa Granich-Kovarik at granichkovarik@sbcglobal.net or (314) 865-4704.
