Civitas Conference: Refugees, Immigration and Shifting Populations

Each February, Civitas has a conference on an important and current international issues. This year the topic is: People on the Move: Refugees, Immigration and Shifting Populations.
Our focus is on the forces that either compel or encourage people to leave their homes. It can be lack of resources, climate change, aggression from neighbors, overpopulation -- a host of reasons.
You can learn more about the conference by clicking here. If you want to participate, you need to apply for admission.
The conference is on Sat., Feb. 25, from 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM at Alberici Enterprises (map). There are two prep sessions in advance, one on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 4 (1:00 PM - 3:00 PM) and the other on Saturday morning, Feb. 18 (9:00 AM - 11:00 AM).

Last Friday evening's "Pizza and a Movie" was iced out. It was a short "ice storm," but perfectly timed to make it unsafe to drive at evening rush hour. We've rescheduled the movie for this coming Friday, Jan. 27. The preliminary weather forcast is for a decent day with a high of 52o.
On Saturday we had an excellent discussion on hate crimes and bullying. Thanks to all who atteneded. More photos are available:
