Things Civitas will provide for you:

1.      The Civitas Associates Participant Handbook (if you haven’t already received one)

2.    A spiffy Civitas pen and notepad

3.    Packets of resolutions by committee

4.    An updated list of General Assembly country selections

Things you need to bring:

1.      A placard. (A piece of cardstock with your countries name written or printed on it legibly)

2.    The Civitas Associates Participant Handbook (if you previously received one)

3.    Any notes you might have pertaining to your country research

4.    Lunch money.

Things you need to know:

1.      Dress appropriately. Suits and ties are nice, but if you want to wear jeans that’s okay too. A good guideline to use is your school’s dress code. (Unless they make you wear uniforms, that’s overkill)

2.    You’re responsible for your own lunch. You can bring a sack lunch or some money. We’ve made a list of places you can buy food from that are within walking distance.

3.    Ideally we will have a Security Council and 3 General Assembly committees; the Economic and Social Committee, the Human Rights Committee, and the Political and Security Committee. In the event we have a low number of students turn up we may combine committees.

4.    Although we have multiple committees to choose from, once you’ve chosen a committee you need to stay there. Committee jumping is distracting and it means less stuff gets done.

5.     Be respectful of everyone else. It just makes things go so much smoother.
