The main Civitas model U.N. session for high school students this school year will be on Saturday, November 18, 2006.  It will be held at the downtown Radisson Hotel (map) from 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM.  Students will take on the roles of representing countries in both the General Assembly and the Security Council.

We expect to have three General Assembly committees:

  • Political & Security Committee

  • Economic & Social Committee

  • Human Rights Committee

Each committee will have its own set of resolutions.  We will also have a fifteen member Security Council with its unique agenda.

We remind everyone that our philosophy is to be "hard on the issues and soft on the people."  We emphasize dialogue over debate.  Each school will have delegations; not teams.  We hope that you want to participate in this model U.N.  If you have any questions, you can contact us at civitas@swbell.net or (314) 367-6480.
