Re:                              Deforestation of the Tropical Rainforest

Establishing in the PREAMBLE the principles that apply in the resolution:

 Whereas Article 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.”, and

 Whereas Article 17, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others.”, and

 Whereas Article 23 section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favorable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment.”, and

 Realizing that the Tropical Rainforest in Brazil is 60% of the world’s remaining rainforest, and

 Concerned that possibly in 2025 he rainforest and all its inhabitants will be destroyed gone forever, and

 Worried that if the rainforest is gone the oxygen to carbon dioxide ratio will be off balance, and

 Reminds that most deforestation is due to clearing land for cattle, road construction, and colonization,

 Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

 1.      Requests that Apple Computer Company makes a 10 Gigabyte iPod in a rainforest green color where $20 of the purchase price is donated to our organization.

2.      This money will be given to the R.A.N. (Rainforest Action Network).

3.      This money will be used to buy land (a half an acre for every $20) in the rainforest in Brazil.

4.      The land bought will ensure that parts of the rainforest will be preserved for future generations.

5.      This program will be authorized for five years with Apple continuing to update the product as needed.  At the end of the fifth year the general assembly will discuss the renewal of the program in Brazil and the extension of donations to the rainforest in Madagascar and Australia as well.

Establishing in the PREAMBLE the principles that apply in the resolution:

 Whereas Article 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.”, and

 Whereas Article 25, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care, and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”, and

 Concerned that in Bangladesh preventable, often water-borne disease is the cause of death for 72 out of 1000 children under 5, and

 Alarmed that in India, 1600 deaths per day are caused by unsafe drinking water, and

 Realizing that in India and Bangladesh thousands of families live on less than 2 U.S. dollars per day,

 Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

 1.      Request that the United States of America, Japan, and Germany add .005% to their owed dues.

 2.      This money is to be used to purchase 80,400 water purifiers.

3.      These purifiers will be distributed to families living along the Ganges River in India and Bangladesh.

4.      The name of this program will be the Ganges Water Purification Association (or the GWPA).

5.      This program will be authorized for two years. At the end of the second year, the General Assembly will discuss the renewal of the program.

Establishing in the PREAMBLE the principles that apply in the resolution:

 Whereas Article 22, of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone, as a member of society, has the right to social security and is entitled to realization, through national effort and international co-operation and in accordance with the organization and resources of each State, of the economic, social and cultural rights indispensable for his dignity and the free development of his personality,”, and

 Whereas Article 25, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care, and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”, and

 Realizing that in Bosnia about 75% of the population is unemployed and are barely making ends meet, and

 Appalled that, according to UNDP, the unemployment rate will rise, and

 Concerned that, over one million refugees of the war have returned home, and

 Worried that the returning refugees will not be able to recover and then claim refugee status again,

 Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

 1.      Request that member nations with the GNP per capita more than $13,000 add a 4.5% increase to their U.N. member dues.

 2.      This money is to set up an unemployment pension for people in Bosnia who have been out of work for 18 months.

3.      The name of this program will be United Nations Unemployment Pension (U.N.U.P)4.      If U.N.U.P is successful in Bosnia, after 5 years the program will be started in six more countries with a high unemployment rate.

5.      This program will be authorized for ten years. At the end of the fifth year, the General Assembly will discuss the renewal of the program.

Establishing in the PREAMBLE the principles that apply in the resolution:

 Whereas Article 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.”, and

 Whereas Article 5 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”, and

Realizing that in Zimbabwe the black rhinoceros herd has been significantly reduced by poaching, and

Observing that in T’savo East National Park, Kenya’s largest park, loses 90, 000 animals a year to poachers, and

 Concerned that 20 different species of animals are killed by poachers,

 Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

1.      Request that member nations with a GNP of $15,000 add a 3% increase to their U.N. member dues to give to POW (Protecting Our Wildlife).

 2.      Further request that a 2% airfare and 1% cigarette tax be applied to the top 10 richest U.N. member countries.

3.      50% of this money is to be forwarded to training and employing local citizens for anti-poaching patrols.

4.      25% of this money is to be funneled into community education & involvement programs.

5.      25% of this money is to be funneled into programs protecting animals in Kenya, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

6.      The fines for illegal hunting will increase by 20%.

7.      Jail time will be increased by 2 years if caught poaching.

8.      After 3 years POW will be evaluated for success and a committee will decide if the project shall continue for a longer period.

Establishing in the PREAMBLE the principles that apply in the resolution:

 Whereas Article 19 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”, and

 Whereas Article 21, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives.”, and

 Whereas Article 21, section 2 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right of equal access to public service in his country.”, and

 Whereas Article 27, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Every has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.”, and

 Whereas Article 27, section 2 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Every has the right to the protection of the moral and material interests resulting from any scientific, literary or artistic production of which he is the author.”, and

 Worried that Radical groups, people that want to take over the country by depressing freedom         from the people, are not allowing those in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to have        freedoms to which they should be guaranteed, and

 Fully aware that in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 4.23 deaths occur per every        1,000   people each year, and

 Taking into consideration that 41% of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s        population lives below the poverty line, most of whom have been affected by radical groups, and

 Alarmed by the fact that 3.3 million people are estimated to have died as a result of the        ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, most from disease and    starvation, and

 Concerned that 2.25 million people have been driven from their homes due to the power     of the radical groups,

 Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

 1.      Request that 1/10 of every AT&T cell phone bill over $20 be collected based on the discretion of the bill payer.

2.      This money will be divided and distributed to two areas.

3.      ½ of all the proceeds be distributed to the International Red Cross and be used toward medical care for those who are suffering of starvation or disease in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

4.      ½ of all the proceeds will be used to provide an extra amount of U.N. Peacekeepers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and areas surrounding who have been or will be affected by the Radical Groups. 

5.      This Program will be called PABPIC (Phoning a Better Place in the Congo)

6.      This program is planned to begin at the start of the 2008 year

7.      In the next 3 years, if this program is successful, the General Assembly will discuss the renewal of the program, or the return of 6,000 out of the 10,000 U.N. peacekeepers sent over.


Resolution GA March 15-06

 Re:                              Drugs in South America

Establishing in the PREAMBLE the principles that apply in the resolution:

 Whereas Article 25, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care, and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”, and

 Whereas Article 26, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.”, and

 Realizing that in South America, central nervous system stimulants, such as cocaine, are exceedingly prevalent in Columbia and Uruguay, and

 Appalled that drugs grown in South America are trafficked into other countries of the world, and

 Concerned that Uruguayan President Jorge Batlle called for drug legalization in 2000,

 Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

 1.      Request that all exports and departing plane tickets be taxed 10.0%.

2.      The funds are to be forwarded to the setup of drug rehabilitation centers and education of drug trafficking prevention.

3.      The money will be distributed to the areas of Colombia and Uruguay that have the highest areas of drug trafficking problems and inhabitants addicted to drugs.

4.       The name of this project will be United Nations Drug Rehabilitation and Anti-Drug Trafficking Initiative (U.N.D.R.A.D.T.I.).

5.      If U.N.D.R.A.D.T.I. is successful in Columbia and Uruguay, after 10 years the program will be started in 3 other South American countries with the highest drug trafficking problem.

6.      This program will be authorized for 15 years. At the end of the 10th year, the General Assembly will discuss the renewal of the program.
