Monday, June 8: We started off with 16 students and a goal to explore the economic and job situation in St. Louis. At our home base, the Brentwood Community Center, Civitas presented a few introductory videos.

The students took some time to get to know each other. After a brief lunch, Go-Team participants walked down to Clayton’s City Hall for a meeting with Mayor Linda Goldstein. She was great about trying to answer our questions. (And there were a lot of them!) When we were finished at City Hall it was time for the students to get to work. For the rest of the afternoon they were in charge of conducting street surveys in downtown Clayton. By the end of the day they had collected around 200 of them.
