As
you can see above, the "catch phrase" for Civitas is "Promoting
Local and Global
Citizenship." If we had a second choice, it might be "Learning
while having Fun." We like to structure our experiences so that
learning is not painful and is in fact enjoyable.
We carry this over to offer a number of other informal
events that are designed to simply provide non-pressured,
non-judgmental, and often humorous times. In our high school U.N.
program, we have our Frivolous U.N. where everything goes.
Throughout the school year we have "Friday Night Dinner & Movie" nights.
On these occasions, students agree to meet at a restaurant and then take
in a movie. Civitas shares the cost with students to make it
affordable for everyone.
We have a year-end picnic and softball game (all too
frequently called off because of rain). During the baseball
season, we go to Cardinal games.
We are open to other ideas and indeed consider one of
the key planks in our platform to be "having fun." Find a
political party that will say the same!
