Letter to Students Interested in Going to Model U.N. -- University of Chicago

November 15, 1997

We are delighted that you are interested in possibly being a member of our delegation from the Gateway Model U.N. to MUNUC (Model U.N. of the University of Chicago).

Listed below is some key information on MUNUC:

The countries which we will be representing in Chicago are BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA and DJIBOUTI. These are both "high profile" countries and will require a combination of considerable preparation in advance and fast-thinking on the floor of the sessions.

There are over 1,800 students from throughout North America who attend MUNUC each year. They come from nearly 100 schools. The delegation which we send from the Gateway Model UN is rather unique because we are open to students from over twenty high schools in the St. Louis area. In our three previous years, lasting friendships have been established as students have the opportunity to work and travel with peers from other schools. We hope that you will want to be part of this unique learning experience.

We have established the following schedule for preparation sessions

Also, we want to let all students and parents know that we reserve the right to not permit a student to go on the trip if we have serious concerns about his or her ability to act in a responsible fashion.
