11 October 1997

Dear Middle School Model UN Teacher,

Thanks to everyone who came to our October 6 meeting. We seem to have a lot of enthusiasm this year, and when you combine that with a "running time" of about half an hour for the meeting – things seem to be off to a quick start.

Enclosed with this mailing are the following.

Our next get-together is on Monday, November 3, at the UNA Headquarters (121 So. Meramec, 10th Floor) [map]. We’ll start at 4:00 PM and go about an hour. Our agenda includes the following:

  1. Presentation by Bill Ramsey, Director of the Human Rights Action Service in St. Louis. Bill will talk about key human rights issues with a special focus on boycotts of items which might be holiday gifts and are made under slave-labor conditions in developing countries. Bill will have a lot of material which you can bring to your students.
  2. Final determination of the dates when each school will be participating in the MUN.
  3. The country draft for each of these MUN dates.
  4. Anything else needing immediate attention.

Call me at 367-6480 if you have any questions. Hang in there!
