Guidelines for Urban Go-Team

RulesUrban Go-Team is going to be a ton of fun this year, but we do need participants to follow a few rules.

  1. You must be at our office at 8:45 AM each morning. (10845 Olive Blvd., Suite 155, Creve Coeur, MO 63141) Our schedule is tight; we need to begin every day on time and then stick to our schedule. Anyone who arrives late will be left behind. We expect you to attend every day. If for whatever reason you are running late please call Arthur at (314) 495-1720.Also, make sure that you have a ride home at 3:00 PM.
  2. Dress comfortably, particularly with regard to shoes. Remember, we will be going into a number of business offices, so dress in a way that does not embarrass you or us.
  3. Stay with the group. That’s obvious, but sometimes we forget.
  4. You will only need money if you want extra food for lunch or snacks. We cover all basic expenses including lunch.
  5. We will be providing you with a bag, a folder, and other resources. Keep your bag/folder with you. There are some really helpful documents in there and a pad of paper for taking notes.
  6. Some days we will be handing out resources to prepare you for an upcoming activity. Please read them!  There may be as much as fifteen minutes of reading per night (wow!).
  7. Cell phone use is not allowed during Go-Team. That means no talking, texting, checking email, etc. The only exception is if there’s an emergency and you are contacting Civitas staff. So when you arrive at 8:45, turn off your cell phone.
  8. Please ask questions! Your job this week is to learn by observing and asking questions. Civitas has worked really hard to organize these opportunities for you and you’ll get so much more out of them if you’re paying attention and being curious. If a speaker is being boring ask them a good question to try to turn the topic to something interesting. Think about it, if you’re bored most likely everyone else is too.
  9. Don’t plan to meet up with anyone during Go-Team. Each and every participant has been specially invited by Civitas. Most of our activities have been reserved and can only accommodate a certain number of people.
