Help the Election Board on election day!

St. Louis City Election Board Needs Workers

Bettie Williams, Republican Deputy Director of the St. Louis City Board of Elections, has contacted Civitas to get the word out that workers are needed for the November 8 presidential election. Bettie has graciously hosted visits by Civitas students in the 2014 and 2016 Urban Go-Team program.

Bettie writes:

Paid workers:

We are looking for students or anyone interested in working here at the Election Board on Election Day.  The pay would be $125.00 and the hours would be 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The task they would be performing is opening the absentee ballot envelopes and running them through the OS [optical scanner] machine.  If need be we could also provide certificates for community service hours.

We need Republicans and Democrats because they work in teams, one from each party.

These workers need to be 18 and registered voters.

The board can also use students who are not yet 18 to work as greeters at different polling places. They will direct voters to the correct precinct lines, making sure that voters are at the correct polling location. The pay for this work will be $100 for a full day (6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.). This job can be split by two students working 50/50.

If you are interested, you can contact Bettie at [email protected] or call her at (314) 622-4261.
