Welcome high school teachers, 2013-14 - CIVITAS-STL

Civitas is now sending more direct communications to high school teachers in the 2013-14 school year.  Our focus between now and the middle of November will be on our Nov. 9, 2013 Gateway Model U.N.

We want to remind you that Civitas starts from the premise that high school teachers already have a full plate and in many cases those work loads are already too heavy.

Barre-HavenWe begin with an intellectually challenging “crisis simulation” for interested students.  Something unexpected will have occurred in the world, and students representing countries of their choosing will either try to find common ground and solve the crisis or act exclusively in self-defense and put the world at further risk.  This is on Saturday, September 7 from 9::00 AM – 11:30 AM at the Civitas office, 10845 Olive Blvd., Suite #155; 63141 (map).

We will have prep sessions for the model U.N. along with issues roundtables on Saturday mornings beginning September 28. [See Calendar for more dates].
Participation from your school in 2013-2014 Civitas year:

We have a short survey that we would like for you to complete to give us an idea as to the extent to which you expect your school to participate in this year’s Civitas programs (model UN, crisis simulation, issues roundtables, Friday night movies, etc.).  You can take the one-minute survey by clicking here.

If you have any questions or want more information on upcoming activities, you can e-mail us at [email protected] or call (314) 367-6480.  You can also check us out on Facebook.
