Get to Know Your Go-Team: Amanda Steiner

What are some of your expectations for the week?
To learn more about the court system and have fun doing so! Also to understand how trails function and gain the valuable experience of having seen a trail in action, then being able to understand how a real-life trail might differ from how a “technical” trail (one in a perfect world) would work.

What is the biggest question you have about the justice system (courts, police, protestors, etc.) in St. Louis?
Why is there a lot of stigma surrounding protesting? Why does it turn violent so often (not only from the protesting side, but also that of officers)?

What other issues do you consider to be of primary significance to St. Louis City and St. Louis County?
The misuse of taxes. I have seen a lot of news concerning money and taxes being misused to the displeasure of the taxpayers. Since I also buy things, this is just as much my problem.

Why did you decide to join Go-Team?
I enjoyed it last year, and the topic seems very interesting and relevant to me, since I will be turning 18 in a few years.

How did you hear about Civitas?
My dad asked if I wanted to attend a lunch thing, and I came and discovered Civitas!

Have you ever done Go-Team before? If so, what was your experience?
Yes! Last year I had a wonderful time discovering the voting system and how to vote, and also polling–I love polling! It was very fun, which is why I’m back.

A fun fact about yourself/anything else you’d want to include.
Hm, I have a little pom-spitz named Dalton, and I’m a rising junior at Ladue!
