It’s Go-Team time again–I think we’ve been doing this for 10+ years! Every year has been an adventure, and this year will be, too. Just so you know, while we plan Go-Team to be fun and eye-opening for students, we have to admit a lot of what happens in Go-Team is stuff that we–the organizers–think would be educational and fun for us, too…
Oh. I just realized that what I’m supposed to be writing here are the answers to these questions. OK.
- What are some of your expectations for the week? I’m hoping that we’ve put together a lineup of activities that Go-Team-ers will think are “cool”; that the schedule will work smoothly; that we have speakers who are not boring; that we all walk away with new information. Oh yes, and peace and justice for all…
- What is the biggest question you have about the justice system (courts, police, protestors, etc.) in St. Louis? Does our justice system work? Is it fair? Why are there so many problems?
- What other issues do you consider to be of primary significance to St. Louis City and St. Louis County? We have too many tiny cities with their own police forces–inconsistent policies and lots of unfair practices.
- Why did you decide to join Go-Team? It’s part of my job–I have a lot of input into the topic, the activities and the scheduling.
- How did you hear about Civitas? I married Arthur Lieber.
- Have you ever done Go-Team before? If so, what was your experience? I might have invented it, along with Arthur, Bobbi and other Civitas people. I’ve done all Go-Teams, except maybe one, when I was preoccupied with the Obama campaign. The best part of Go-Team is the team of students–you guys inspire me and make me feel hopeful about the next generation. The worst part is the heat. [We’re learning to avoid huge walking tours on hot days…]
- A fun fact about yourself/anything else you’d want to include. Since adopting “GG” as my grandma name, I prefer it to “Gloria” Extra credit to anyone who calls me GG.
