Re.:                             Limited Water around the World

Submitted to:            General Assembly

Submitted by:           Jamaica, Cuba, Mexico

Date:                           April 1, 2014

Whereas Article 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.”, and

Whereas Article 21, section 2 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right of equal access to public service in his country.”, and

Whereas Article 25, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care, and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”, and

Appalled Water-related diseases are one of the leading causes of disease and death in the world. At any given time, half of the world’s hospital beds are occupied by patients suffering from a water- related disease. Every 15 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease.1 1.8 million children die each year from diarrhea- 4,900 deaths each day, and

Dismayed 2.6 billion people in the world lack access to proper sanitation resources, and

Realizing that the interventions with the greatest impact on national development and public health are the provision of safe drinking water and the proper disposal of human waste gives us hope for the future,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. We plan to build one well in the six poorest cities of the following; Haiti, Kuwait, and the tribal areas in Africa.
  2. If water related diseases decrease by 10% we will expand wells to all over the country and to the other three countries previously stated.
  3. We reach out to Camelbak and Britta to develop a filtered water bottle. When you buy a bottle another one is sent to the countries we are reaching out to. The water bottle will take 8.75 dollars to make and it retail price will be 13.00 dollars plus tax.
  4. All water bottles will be sold in all retail stores, they are already sold at internationally.
  5. Our budget is 26.3 million dollars.
  6. We plan to tax luxury travel such as cruises and international flight as well as luxury imports by 4% to the the top four countries most bountiful in fresh drinking water: United States of America, Canada, Russia, and Brazil.
  7. We plan on asking many nonprofit organizations for whole donations such as, Charity: Water, WaterIslife, The Water Project, Pure Water Access Project, Water for the Ages, Ecospeakers and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. We will be asking them for 25,000 per organization.
  8. From the water bottles we will receive 3 percent of all proceeds for building wells and sending doctors.
  9. For building the wells we plan to mainly recruit volunteers; however, if enough volunteers cannot be recruited we will send construction workers and pay them $5.25 per hour.
  10. The water bottles will be manufactured for two years, starting early 2015. They will be on the market in mid-year 2017. If water-related diseases go down 20% we will move on to the next four poorest countries.
  11. Overall this will be an 8 year project.

Submitted to:            General Assembly

Whereas Article 4 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.”, and

Appalled that 27 million people are held in modern slavery across the world, and

Shocked that of the 600,000-800,000 people trafficked across the international border annually, over 50% are children, and

Dismayed that 161 countries are identified by affected by human trafficking, and

Realizing that some $32 billion per year profit is made by criminals who exploit trafficked children for sexual exploitation,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. The United Nations will create a program named Rehab for Trafficking Victims (RTV) which will be based in Uganda and India. This is a rehab program is designed to assist in the healing of the victims of human trafficking.
  2. RTV will include physical and psychological therapy, job training, medical care, education, self-defense training, call system, rehab cab and child/family care, and maternity care.

  6. We estimate with building time, that we will be able to be on our way to reaching our target goal between 3-5 years. After 3 years, we would like the U.N. to visit our program and evaluate whether or not it is meeting the needs of the area and if it should be continued.

Resolution GA-03 April 1

Re.:                             Immigrants and Refugees

Submitted to:            General Assembly

Submitted by:           Italy

Date:                           April 1, 2014

Whereas Article 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.”, and

Whereas Article 13 section 2 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country.”, and

Whereas Article 14 section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution.”, and

Dismayed that more than 2,000,000 Syrians have fled their home country because of the war, and

Shocked that Turkey alone has received 10 times the number of Syrian refugees than all the EU states altogether, and

Fully aware that all of the 28 EU member states together receive less than 8,000 refugees, and 16 of them refuse to do anything to resettle refugees, and

Deeply concerned that Greek and Italian coastguards have been repeatedly accused of illegally rejecting Syrian refugees, and pushing them back into Turkish waters, and

Realizing that if European UN member states created legal escape routes, or an active admission program, more Syrian refugees could be resettled from refugee camps,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. The UN will create a program called EHSR (Europe Harboring Syrian Refugees), in which they will create camps in Greece and Italy.
  1. The EHSR will set up an active admission program and set up legal escape routes for incoming the refugees.
  1. If Italy and Greece find refugees that aren’t using the legal escape routes, they are allowed to do as they choose with them.

Resolution GA-04 April 1

Re.:                             Living Conditions in North Korea

Submitted to:            General Assembly

Submitted by:           South Korea

Date:                           April 1, 2014

Whereas Article 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.”, and

Whereas Article 5 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”, and

Whereas Article 9 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention, or exile.”, and

Appalled that North Korea holds approximately 150,000 to 200,000 people in its detention and concentration camps, and

Horrified that about 400,000 people have died due to starvation, disease, torture, and execution in those camps, and

Concerned that families of political prisoners are also arrested, and

Aware that Kim Jong Un and his government are very sneaky and shady and kept the citizens  of North Korea in the dark about the weak economy due to the corrupt government, and

Worried that in March 2011 a joint UN survey estimated that over six million vulnerable persons in North Korea urgently required international food assistance to avoid famine, and

Knowing that provisions sent by the United Nations do not make it to the hungry citizens of North Korea,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. The United Nations will implement a program called  INKS (International North Korean Support)
  2. INKS will work with China, North Korea’s sole ally, to get food provisions to North Korea.  INKS will also rely on the cooperation of South Korea to get supplies, by boat via South Korean islands off southwest coast of North Korea, into North Korea.
  3. Chinese negotiators will be sent to speak with North Korean government officials to hold them accountable for provisions  donated, suggesting more intense repercussions in the future if food is not provided to North Korean citizens .
  4. International pressure will be put on Kim Jong Un to cooperate with the INKS initiative to get provisions to North Koreans.  If necessary, have the United States withdraw troops from South Korea as a compromise, or get U.S. to agree, even temporarily, to refrain from practice military drills in South Korea.
  5. U.N. Peace-keeping troops will go into detention and concentration camps via China and Russia with their cooperation, and liberate the political prisoners and their families.  This will involve a large number of troops and the use of EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) devices to remain undetected by the larger North Korean military.
  6. The U.N. Peace-keeping troops will get former prisoners safely out of North Korea in Armored Personnel Carriers taken into China and Russia.
  7. Refugee camps will be set up in China and/or Russia for former North Korean prisoners.
  8. Once settled, the UN will ask the freed prisoners for detailed, accurate accounts of prison conditions and conditions for North Koreans out of prison, especially related to food availability.  Information gained from former prisoners will be used to raise awareness of true North Korean conditions to the world.
  9. INKS will work with South Korea to monitor the North Korean border, possibly encouraging and aiding North Koreans who want to escape their country.
  10. INKS will also help South Korea increase their border satellites for cell phones, hopefully improving the accessibility to global information for North Koreans.
  11. Cell phones provided in North Korea?  Smuggled in?  Costs covered by U.N. via South Korea?
