Two guest speakers about COVID-19, for May 2 (Now with bonus speaker!)

Saturday, May 2, Civitas is hosting a NewsHour for students, teachers and other guests. We will have two guests in the 10:00 – 11:30 AM ZOOM program, each with a half-hour for presentation as well as Q&A.

Joining us will be Holland Saltsman, owner of the Novel Neighbor. Holland will talk about the struggles of being a small business store owner during this time of quarantine. (The Novel Neighbor is a Webster Groves based bookstore.)

We will be joined by two other guest speakers, both who work in the medical field. They will talk to us how their jobs have changed and what the covid-19 situation has been like for health care workers.

Michelle Ong is from Dallas, Texas.  For her undergraduate education she attended Texas A&M class of 1997, then medical school at Texas Tech in Lubbock and El Paso.  She completed her emergency medicine residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem Pennsylvania, then worked for Indian Health Services in Gallup, New Mexico for 1 year before coming to St. Louis.  She has worked as an Emergency doctor here for the last 14 years (initially at St. Anthony’s, DePaul and Lake St. Louis, and most recently at St. Mary’s for the last 11 years).

Dan Berg is from St. Louis county.  For his undergraduate education he attended Brown University class of 1994, then medical school at Washington University.  He completed internal medicine residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, then worked for Indian Health Services in Gallup, New Mexico for 3 years before coming back to St. Louis and working as a hospitalist for Washington University Medical School for 3 years.  He has been a primary care internist at Family Care Health Centers, a federally qualified health center in St. Louis, for the last 11 years.

This will be an engaging morning so sign up now!
