Whereas Article 4 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.”, and

Whereas Article 5 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”, and

Whereas Article 23 section 2 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone, without any discrimination, has the right to equal pay for equal work.”, and

Knowing that slavery still exists and is a problem to modern day Mauritania although the government denies so, and

Worried that enforced slavery will continue to grow without punishment, and

Concerned that there are approximately 360,000 slaves held in Mauritania and

Aware that local activists are frequently arrested and punished for fighting against slavery,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. The United Nations should create more groups and organizations, with the help of MHSP to help bring slaves to freedom.

  2. MHSP will set up the family, medical, and school tents as a small community by the capital of Mauritania, Nouakchott. This will include doctors, nurses, teachers, and food. After the camp is set up than the United Nations will send in peace forces to get the slaves out of the situation and into the camps.

  3. The United Nations will need an estimate of $35,000,000.

  4. Check on the progress of the camp every year until slavery rates are almost zero to none.
  5. If in 10 years, slavery rates are still up, then the camp shall go on for 5 more years, however, if rates are progressively going down, then the camp will close.
