In April 2019, Civitas will once again be collaborating with the Pulitzer Center. Our guest journalist will be Bill Freivogel, long-time reporter for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Director of the School of Journalism at Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. His project “Taken: How Police Profit from Seized Property” looks at national policing policies but also how it affects Missouri (Specifically in Phelps County & St. Charles County.)
Bill Freivogel will be touring various schools in the St. Louis area and talking about if civil asset forfeiture is an important drug-fighting tool or if it’s policing for profit.
